Porkchop Sandwiches!

Let's just say I haven't been getting enough sleep lately. But I've been laughing a hell of a lot more than I have in a really long time.

= deliriously happy.

The Shack!

So this is my big Summer project...my very first construction job done all by myself! Well, relatively speaking... Zac helped me set up the shower and learn about plumbing (nipples, for example), Chris and Grandfather gave me a ton of advice all through the entire process, and Dad helped me infinitely with all the complicated things that I didn't understand or was too scared to fuck up. Plus he taught me how to use power tools without losing any limbs or fingers. All in all it took about a month of all-day labor, and as a product of learning-by-doing, I had to do most things at least two or three times before I got them right. And I learned that I'm okay with ghetto construction jobs. As long as it works...whatever.

"Before", although I don't really have an actual before shot because I took this after I had already plastered the walls and put sheet rock on the ceiling. But, you get the idea.

My messy construction site.

Outdoor shower with ultra-basic solar water heater!

The "before" shot of the floors...gross pink concrete with who knows what green stains.

My only construction accident. I sliced myself with tile shards.

Tiling!

Reciprocating saws make me feel tough. Look at that beautiful hole.

My first shot at carpentry... tile countertop.

Air conditioner framed by lovely exposed insulation.

Morgan and I made use of Freecycled sheetrock with this lovely patchwork job.

I built a bed! And look, Ma - there's even plumbing!

This is before we broke the first talavera sink...

Now I just need a picture of Vanessa with all her lovely stuff living in the shed. That ones coming soon.
